Viking Brewhouse - Adventures in Brewspace

G’Day, I’m Matt Bishop and the Viking Brewhouse is the online extension of my adventures and travels in the wonderful world of homebrewing.

Viking Brewhouse was unofficially established in December of 2000 in an effort to lower the costs of enjoying a beer. Armed with a single 25 litre fermenter and a wooden brew-box inherited from my grandfather (himself a magnificent brewer of ales and stouts), output was sporadic at best, producing only three brews bfore being mothballed in 2003 due to complete laziness.

But, with inspiration from close friend and brewing associate Adam Colwell of the Colwell Brewing Co , production started up once again in Fedbruary 2006, rapidly expanding output volume from the single original fermenter setup of one 25 litre vessel, a chipboard brew-box for insulation and an immersion fermentation heater, to three extra 30 litre vessels - one of these generally reserved for racking into, a fully functional 400 litre fridge - enabling completely controlled production capability at any time of year, 2nd immersion heater, enough knowledge to get into trouble (but not neccessarily enough to get back out again!) and a MASSIVE stockpile of bottles to fill.

My paltry brewing efforts - up to this stage unofficially named Bishop’s Middle Finger Natural Brewing Company was officially re-launched as the Viking Brewhouse with the commissioning of this website.

VIKING BREWHOUSE.COM , besides giving me a far cooler email address than ….@yahoo.com, aims at keeping a more ordered log of brew notes and just having fun rattling on about my adventures in brewspace where anyone who is bored and flitting around the ‘net can stumble across them and have a read.

The site will be constantly changing and expanding as I learn how to drive the damn thing and will include such things as brewnotes, reviews (from me and others) information (who knows, you may just learn something here!) , links and other interesting bits and pieces so keep on coming back. Don’t forget to check out the LATEST NEWS for all the latest goings on at the Brewhouse.
